Let it Snow!

Chloe's picture

It's been a while since my last post.
I left off by saying that I vowed never to go back to the hospital again after been diagnosed.
With the exception of seeing my endo and a few clinic visits, I have been successful!
I attribute my success to a few "pillars" which I have dug the ground work for and continue to build my life upon...

  • Working outside
  • Doing what I love
  • Being active everyday
  • Putting my health (physical and emotional) over salary

Thus far, my strategy has worked!
I guide canoe, raft and hiking trips all over Canada, teach outdoor experiential education, travel and explore.
Last week, I helped run a winter outdoor education course for students from Queen's University. It was darn cold out there!

Does anyone have any experience with winter travel or outdoor recreation with a pump?!
I know I have developed some systems after my infusion set tubing shattered into 20+ pieces after 3 seconds of being exposed to -30 degree temps while snowshoeing.
Oopps!
Experiential learning at it's finest!

I would love to get some Type 1's talking about their experiences outdoors with their pump (winter, summer, spring and fall conditions!)
Check out the "Connected in Motion" Group Talk topic under the Type 1 category. It is from a few weeks ago, but still gets my point across.

Can't wait to hear about your outdoor adventures!
