Does anybody know where I could get a good cookbook on diabetes and diet?
Would like something tried and true rather than just guessing.

Check with you local public
Check with you local public library. If they have anything, then go for it= borrow it from them for the alloted loan period. If your local public library needs to borrow an item from another library, this is called interlibrary-loan, then request your local library do an interlibrary loan for you. Libraries, often prefer specific title(s) requests.
Also search: http://www.bibliocentre.ca/ (Ontario colleges campuses libraries), click on BIBCAT and do a keyword search: diabetes recipes cookbook. If you live near an Ontario Canada community college go to the campus library, you MAY be charged a small one-time yearly "external borrower" fee ; or again ask you local public library for a specific book and don't forget to mention where you found the information on the item.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.
Another great carb counting
Another great carb counting site is www.nutritiondata.com.
This site includes a full list of nutrition data, as we see it on product packages.
It also includes further information on vitamins, minerals and glycemic load in each food item.
You're right. I checked out
You're right.
I checked out the site. It looks fantastic.
I particularly like the fast food look-up right on the front page and the great use of graphics to outline the nutritional components. Beats plain text any day!
Thanks for posting this

You can find some at CDA's
You can find some at CDA's website at the following link:

The Beyond the Basics Resource is great because it includes a carbohydrate counting list, as well as glycemic index of most common foods. If you're into baking, Splenda has a really great cookbook. You can find it at any local bookstore.
Thanks. This really helps.

Speaking of glycemic index have you seen this great site that allows you to see the GI of a whole bunch of foods?
Run by the University of Sydney. And its free!
